Winning as a Hider is about perfecting your disguise.

• Sample your color with the eyedropper - never guess it

• Match the light direction on the surface you are mimicking

• Lower metallic and roughness so you do not shine

• Use posing commands (crouch, sit, curl) for odd shapes

• Stay still after painting - movement creates a visible trail

The color picker, eyedropper, HSV, metallic and roughness sliders are your camouflage toolkit.

• Use the eyedropper to sample an exact color instead of matching by eye

• Fine-tune metallic and roughness so the surface finish matches the wall

• Watch the 'answer check' result after painting - it tells you how close your color is

• Watch your silhouette: an otherwise perfect paint job fails if the shape is wrong

Clones and poses were added to give Hiders more ways to misdirect Hunters.

• Create a clone with the Q key after painting and posing your character

• You can have up to two clones active at the same time (added in update 2.0.0)

• Spread clones out or overlap them to build convincing disguises

• Remember: if a clone is destroyed, your main body is also revealed - a clone is not a free extra life

• Do not look for bright colors - look for wrong shadows

• Check physical player shadows that do not align with map lighting

• Tag easy targets first to grow your team quickly

• Once you have numbers, spread out to cover the whole map

Once the basics are second nature, these combos decide close rounds.

• Use clones as decoys: paint a clone into a convincing prop, then slip to a second spot — hunters often tag the clone first

• Pair poses with props: crouch inside furniture geometry instead of painting yourself flat against a wall

• Stack both clones to cover a doorway or hallway sightline (max 2 active clones since 2.0.0)

• For hunters, read light first: a player shadow that does not match the map's lighting is the biggest tell in the game

• Move between two hiding spots mid-round on big maps like Hide-and-Seek Mansion — hunters commit to areas
