Meccha Chameleon is simple to learn but surprisingly deep. Here is everything you need to know before your first round.

The Core Loop: Paint to Hide

Every player starts as a plain white figure. Hiders survive by painting their body to match the map, while Hunters chase them down with a rifle. If at least one Hider is still hidden when the timer ends, the Hider team wins the round.

  1. Hold the paint button to cover your body in the map's colors and textures
  2. Use the eyedropper to sample an exact color - never guess it
  3. Match the light direction, not just the color, or you will shine
  4. Adjust metallic and roughness so your surface does not reflect light

Hider vs Hunter Roles

Your win condition changes completely depending on which side you draw.

  • Hider: survive until the timer ends; use clones and poses to confuse Hunters
  • Hunter: tag every Hider before the timer runs out
  • Hunters win by tagging everyone; Hiders win if at least one survives

Servers & Player Count

You can play on public servers or host a private room for friends.

  • A server supports up to 24 players; the developers recommend 2-12 for the best experience
  • Hosts can set custom rules, round time and a password in Custom Rooms
  • The game is PC-only on Steam; it streams to macOS through GeForce NOW
